Bruno Walter Format: Audio CD Classical Editorial Review
The Bruno Walter - The Complete Columbia Album Collection is a fantastic set. The music is almost uniformly excellent, and the sound engineers have made the early recordings sound like they were made yesterday. The pre-stereo recordings are full of life and energy, and the NYPO is absolutely amazing. The mono recordings sound great and alone are worth the price of admission. The Mezzo, Mildred Miller, is still with us - someone who performed Mahler under the direction of someone who worked with Mahler and conducted the premier. This set has been a revelation for some customers and is a very worthwhile purchase. The supplemental information on each CD is very informative. However, one customer did not receive all 77 disks in the set.
