What sets Dune apart from other science fiction novels of its time is its inclusion of rounded, important, and strong female characters. The protagonist, Jessica, and her son Paul are characters that readers genuinely care about. The novel combines elements of fantasy with a feudal structure and imaginative use of science, creating a unique and captivating world.
