Samurai Warriors 5 for the Nintendo Switch is a fun game with quality graphics and audio. It is a fresh take and re-imagining of Samurai Warriors 1 with a focus on Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi. While the game has pushed things a few steps forward, it also takes several steps backward. The combat is smooth, refined, and polished, and less stale compared to the movesets from previous entries. It provides new portrayals of the old cast, some being huge improvements, while others are downgrades. The game also balances the hyper attacks from SW4 and provides a new mechanic known as Ultimate Skills, which makes combat more fun as you need to strategize which skills are effective against certain units. All voice-work is in Japanese.
