The leather is thick, but the boots are not designed to protect against snake bites. They are not steel toed. The boots are not sold as Factory 2nds, but some customers received scuffed and dry leather due to being a few years old. Customers have used leather conditioner to soften and rejuvenate the leather. Overall, the Red Wing Blacksmith boots have satisfied customers' needs and are comfortable after the break-in process. The boots are versatile and can be worn for work or dressed up. The Briar leather used for the boots is shiny and unique. Some customers have issues with the tight midsole, making it difficult to put on the boots.
