When it comes to extracting DNA from plant tissues, the presence of polysaccharides and polyphenols can be a major hindrance. Not only do these compounds vary widely between plant species, but they can also inhibit downstream applications like polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
That's where our CTAB Extraction Buffer comes in. With the help of Polyvinylpyrrolidone, a powerful polyphenol binding agent, our buffer effectively removes polysaccharides and polyphenols, ensuring clean DNA extraction. The extraction protocol involves homogenizing the plant samples in CTAB Extraction Buffer, followed by centrifugation to remove debris and polysaccharides. This step ensures that you obtain a pure DNA extract. One of the key advantages of using our CTAB Extraction Buffer is that it preserves not just DNA, but also RNA.
By simply adding RNase A, you can easily remove RNA from your extract. The DNA is then precipitated and washed in organic solvents to further purify it before re-dissolving it in an aqueous solution.
