Action & Adventure Editorial Review
"Borderline," a 1980 movie starring Charles Bronson as a US Border Patrol Officer, is a missed opportunity to address serious issues and be a satisfying action film. While the film does a fairly good job of presenting the work of the Border Patrol realistically and treating the immigrants sympathetically, it bogs down into tedious investigating, feeling more like an extended episode of a not too exciting '70s TV show. The climactic confrontation between Bronson and Ed Harris, who plays a particularly cold and violent ex-Marine, is perfunctory and hardly worth the wait. The DVD is serviceable with no extra features, but the packaging, including photos of Bronson and Harris, is pretty cool looking. Overall, the film is not enough to whole-heartedly recommend. However, for Charles Bronson fans or those interested in the border between the United States and Mexico or what is happening at the border today, "Borderline" could be worth watching.
