Tsukushi Makino est une jeune lycéenne de 16 ans, issue d'un milieu modeste, qui est parvenue à rentrer dans l'un des établissements les plus cotés du pays. Si Marmalade Boyétait un shôjo manga davantage destiné aux petites filles, en revanche, Hana Yori Dango est un récit beaucoup plus mûr, mettant en scène des personnages à la fois attachants, naïfs, et calculateurs !
